It’s no secret that us lot at MP! love a good book or two…
Those ladies are two of the most badass activists in dystopian YA and are constantly inspiring us to be rebels and stand up for the causes we believe in!
Another book character who is discovering activism just like Katniss and Tris is Alena – the star of Catherine Barter’s new novel, ‘Troublemakers’. She may not be part of a dystopian world, but she’s just as compelling as Katniss and Tris. Maybe even more so as the book is set in modern-day London.
Why? Well, Alena’s activist mother died when she was just a baby. She lives with her older, half-brother Danny and his boyfriend Nick in the East End, but when the area is threatened by a bomber it drives Alena to learn more about her Mother’s rebellious, politically-charged past.
It’s truly a fabulous read, that’s ideal to delve into following the political upheaval of the General Election.
Could you be real-life badass activist like Katniss, Tris or even Alena’s mother? It’s time to find out.
