Author Appreciation: 6 Reasons Why We Think Michael Grant is Awesome

The first book in Michael Grant’s new game-changing series, ‘Front Lines’, just appeared on shelves. It’s an alternate version of World War II where girls and women can fight and be drafted into war. But we don’t just think Michael is awesome for giving women the spotlight, there’s all this too:

Michael Grant

  1. He is the master of Twitter. If you tweet him or tag him, you’re probably going to get a response. Michael is one of the most accessible authors out there; we’re very lucky that authors are just willing to chat with us lowly readers!

2. He uses #ukyachat as a distraction too! It’s always fun when authors get involved with Twitter chats and contribute interesting comments to the discussion.

3. He has the BEST sources of inspiration for his writing!

4. He’s as excited as we are about the prospect of having ‘Gone’ on our screens.

5. Michael has written over 150 books. 150! Michael and his wife, Katherine Applegate, wrote a whole load of the ‘Animorphs’ series back in the day, churning out 14 books a year, before branching out on his own with ‘Gone’.

6. But you probably don’t want him looking after your cat if this exchange with Patrick Ness is anything to go by… Just stick with the books.
