Had you heard of ‘The Potion Diaries’ before seeing it on Maximum Pop? If so, where did you find out about it?
Yes, I found out about it through Twitter by chance a while back. I saw the cover and thought ‘This is a book I have to read’.
What’s your favourite thing about the cover?
It’s a beautiful cover. Whimsical but with a hint of danger lurking in the potion itself. It caught my attention immediately.
If you could have any of the potions used in the book, which would it be and why?
I’d love to try out the truth serum on people! I think it would definitely be useful in certain situations.
What did you think of the blend between fairy tale magic and the modern day?
It was beautifully done. The mix of magic and modernity was seamless and believable, adding to the overall charm of the book. It brings the whimsy of classic fairy tales into the twenty-first century with tablets and laptops and other technology.
Got any favourite characters? Like hot love interests or talented alchemists?
Oh my gosh, Zain! I loved him. He was so adorkably cute when he was around Sam. I liked that he wasn’t as big headed as his father and genuinely seemed to want to help Sam throughout. They were adorable.
Would you recommend ‘The Potion Diaries’ to friends?
Yes, definitely. It’s got everything: magic, mystery, whimsy, a scavenger hunt, cute boys, badass girls… what’s not to love?
