In the words of new kid on the block A*M*E, she’s a “17-year old pop princess hailing from south east London (via Sierra Leone)”. In the words of Maximum Pop!, she’s an upcoming pop singer who’s signed to Gary Barlow’s record label and is recording with the likes of MNEK, who’s most famous for his work on The Saturdays’ ‘All Fired Up’. She even has her own fanzine, in which she interviews randoms and bizarrely expresses her love for the 90’s, despite not being old enough to remember when everyone made sure they were home in time for Sister Sister.
We’ve been told by many trustworthy sources that A*M*E is one to watch – which is how we found ourselves viewing her first ever music video for ‘City Lights’. The song itself is a typical MNEK production, but with Katy B-esque melodies and vocals from A*M*E herself – and thanks to the annoyingly infectious playground chant of a chorus, we can’t help but want to hear more.
Watch the video for ‘City Lights’ below and let us know if you’re excited to hear more from A*M*E.
