Accio, Potterheads! You NEED to hear the latest ‘Fantastic Beasts 2’ news

*Disapparates away*

Did you think the world of ‘Harry Potter‘ was over? Hah, no chance! Ever since the release of the epic ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them‘ we’ve been bombarded with exclusive tidbits and exciting casting news for the rest of the series, right from the horse’s mouth itself (We love you, Jo).

The first film might have been set against the backdrop of a thriving New York City but you should get ready for the film of a lifetime with ‘Fantastic Beasts 2’ as we’re transported back across the Atlantic to the home and heart of ‘Harry Potter’.

Um… did anyone notice Newt Scamander’s cameo in the original ‘Harry Potter’ films? We sure didn’t!

JK has FINALLY answered the big question on who’s the lead of the next ‘Fantastic Beasts’ films

That’s right, Director David Yates has confirmed that the next in the series is going to be packing its trunk and moving back to Europe, with Newt’s travels taking him back to his UK roots.

“We do go back to the U.K. in the second film as well–it’s U.K. and Paris. I’m not sure where Jo is setting the rest of the movies, but they’ll be European-centric. I think it will be difficult to ignore America, but the next one is predominately Europe.”

Are we the only ones screaming with excitement?!

We loved seeing a thriving, bustling, magical NYC come to life this November but we’re even more excited to have Newt back in the home country that started it all. And that’s not all – we’ve also heard whispers that they’re on the search for the perfect young Dumbledore to cast! We know who would be the PERFECT fit. Do you agree?

As if all this isn’t exciting enough, ‘Fantastic Beasts’ is also set to go French for the first time. Do we sense some romantic tension on the horizon for our new OTP in the city of loveeee? We can only HOPE and PRAY.

In the meantime, this is totes going to be us waiting for the next film to be released:

How excited are you? Let us know in the comments whether you’re looking forward to leaving NYC behind for the next film.

  1. I really enjoyed the NYC setting but it’s probably a bit limited in that it’s just one city. It would be a bit like Midsomer Murders where all the bad stuff keeps happening in one place. Just move, already. So yeah, I’m really looking forward to it going to Europe.

I’d really like to see somewhere less obvious though. Like a pocket of dark wizards working out of some little town you haven’t heard of.. but BOOM instant tourist destination, right?

  2. I really loved having it in NYC! It made it feel kind of relatable and more fun since I’ve been to all those places before. SUPER excited to see what’s next for the series. Also, Eddie Redmayne is just adorable.

  3. Oh, I love the idea of Newt in Paris! Though I really did enjoy seeing another part of the Wizarding World in NYC – I’m a sucker for 20s New York. BUT it’ll obvs be amazing regardless.
