Meet the girl whose 5SOS fan fiction took her on a journey you wouldn’t believe

Writing fan fiction has led to some amazing author careers, such as E. L. James’ ‘50 Shades of Grey‘ (originally fan fiction of ‘Twilight’) and now teen author Ashley Royer, with her new book ‘Remember to Forget’, based on fan fiction inspired by 5SOS. Her serialised story became so popular online, she got a book deal with one of the world’s biggest publishers, Harper Collins!

Ashley Royer is a 17-year-old girl who is still in school and dreams of becoming a child life specialist, helping kids deal with illness and disability. She was introduced to Wattpad by a friend, who explained she could upload books/fan fiction onto it, then she began uploading ‘Remember to Forget’ under the name of @_smilelikeniall (so she’s clearly a 1D fan too!).

‘Remember to Forget’ isn’t strictly about 5SOS, but the main character in the Wattpad series was called Luke (his name has since been changed to Levi for the book). His girlfriend passes away in a car accident, which ends up with him falling into a deep depression where he can’t speak, so his mum sends him off to the USA from Australia to live with his dad.

Ashley had a signing at Barnes & Nobles in her hometown of Peabody for her book and it was a big success! There have been millions of views on her Wattpad, she has more signings coming up and it was only released the other week. We can’t wait to get our hands on it.
