It’s almost here and you should all jump on this bandwagon. If you liked The Shannara Chronicles, you’ll love The 100. Although it doesn’t contain any magical elements, it’s just as good and downright addictive.
Quick summary: The show is set 97 years after a devastating nuclear war wiped out almost all life on Earth. The only known survivors are living in an ark up in space and send 100 juvenile prisoners down to earth in a last ditch attempt to determine if the planet is habitable again. They soon discover that they aren’t the only living things fighting for survival.
If you don’t know how to contain all this excitement, not to worry. We’re here with five things to get you ready for the long-awaited season 3 premiere. Continue reading at your own risk.
CATCH UP ON SEASON 1 AND 2
If you’re just new to this dystopian, post-apocalyptic drama and you want to catch up on what you’ve missed, then we have some good news. There’s only 29 episodes to catch up on. That’s only 9 episodes a day. Easssssyyyy, especially if you’re used to binge watching shows one season a day.
DO NOT GET EMOTIONALLY INVESTED
Like most shows, you can easily get too emotionally invested in a character(s) – whether it’s their storyline or the actual character themselves. If you do decide to go all out with the binge watching, prepare for some shocking twists and turns that will leave you questioning your entire life choices. Tears will be shed.
The fans of the show have already solidified their ships, whether it be Clarke/Lexa, Clarke/Bellamy, Octavia/Lincoln or the countless others fans are obsessed with. Once you make a choice, you’re in till the end. As you make your way through the 29 episodes, you will switch between so many couples but there is one that will keep you hooked and wanting more. Any guesses?
GETTING TO KNOW THE TERMINOLOGY
Fans of the show do not need to worry about this, however, new fans may be a little confused on the terminology mentioned. Here is a quick guide:
- The Sky People aka The Invaders: they are the 100 prisoners sent back down to earth.
- Grounders: people who have been surviving on the earth since the war
- Reapers: Grounders who have become cannibals.
- Mountain Men: they live in Mount Weather, The 100’s original destination.
READ THE BOOKS
If you’ve watched everything you can and you still want more – there is an entire book series to indulge in. The 100 is a young adult, science fiction trilogy series by Kass Morgan. Obviously the books and the show differ in details and slight changes in the story however why not engross yourself into another world? We have and it’s amazing.
