2016 is the year of the movie soundtrack. Here are our faves so far from Halsey, Demi and more

In the music world, we’ve seen some huge releases this year so far; Beyoncé, Rihanna, Fifth Harmony, Little Mix… It’s almost like an overload of amazing tunes!

But over in movie land, it’s just as crazy. We’ve had some massive films released so far and it’s only May! There’s no time to rest though, there’s even more to come.

But along with those great films, there’s some really great soundtracks coming with them by some of our fave pop stars. So here are our favourite soundtracks of the year so far as well as a look at some that are on the way.

1) Shakira – ‘Try Everything’ [‘Zootropolis’]: ‘Zootropolis’ has turned out to be one of the unexpected hits of 2016, becoming the highest grossing movie of the year. Shakira not only provides the soundtrack but even appears in the film as Gazelle, a famous pop star

2) Halsey – ‘Castle’ [‘The Huntsman: Winter’s War]: We fell in love with the video to ‘Castle’ last month and we can confirm the film is just as epic.

3) Demi Lovato – ‘I Will Survive’ [‘The Angry Birds Movie]: Demi doesn’t feature in the film but she does provide a cover of this disco classic from all the way back in 1978!

4) Justin Timberlake – ‘Can’t Stop The Feeling’ [‘Trolls]: Justin sprung this one on us as a surprise this week and we’re still trying to recover from it! We can’t wait to see ‘Trolls’ later this year.

5) P!NK – ‘Just Like Fire’ [‘Alice Through The Looking Glass’]: ‘Alice Through The Looking Glass’ looks set to be one of this summer’s big hits and with P!nk on the soundtrack, we totally get it. We love this!

But there’s more that we’re looking forward to hearing…

Charli XCX – ‘Explode’ [‘The Angry Birds Movie’]: Charli appears in the movie as Willow and has even been kind enough to provide a brand new song for the film.

‘Finding Dory’: The super exciting follow up to Finding Nemo is coming this summer. We don’t quite know who is providing the soundtrack to this one just yet but… it’s Disney. We’re pretty certain it’s going to be amazing.

‘The BFG’: Disney and Steven Spielberg will release their version of this Roald Dahl classic in July. No clues on who will provide the soundtrack but we’ll let you know as soon as we know.

‘Star Trek Beyond’: Another film for the summer without a soundtrack but no space adventure is complete without some kick-ass tunes!
