We’ve always believed in angels and now we have living proof. The 1D lads have accomplished yet another good deed by holding a competition on behalf of the joint campaign Stand Up To Cancer by Cancer Research UK and Channel 4. We are so proud!
You might remember us talking about the 1D Prizeo campaign a while back where you could win the chance to jet off to Miami and meet the boys backstage their WWA show. More than a third of donations were made from you lovely lot who were participating in the competition, so pat yourselves on the back. The rest of the amount were from everyone who attended the Where We Are Tour in UK and Ireland.
There were over 10,868 entries worldwide ranging from £3 to £1,200, proving that Directioners are more than dedicated to the boys. The total raised was a massive £501,300 which will be going towards accelerating new cancer treatments to UK patients and saving more lives. Well done, everyone!
Speaking about the boyband’s generosity, Claire Rowney, director of Stand Up To Cancer UK, said: “You can imagine how thrilled we were when One Direction chose to support Stand Up To Cancer. They come with an army of dedicated supporters, which is exactly what we need for this campaign. We want people to join us on the frontline and help beat cancer sooner. The money raised by One Direction and their fans will help bring new treatments to patients sooner and will ultimately save lives.”
