Veronica Roth is back with a brand new series that ‘Divergent’ fans won’t want to miss!

A little while ago we got the chance to sneak in an interview with ‘Carve the Mark’ author, Veronica Roth, and as if we weren’t going to try and get all the goss on this brand new series.

And not only that, we’ve also got the trailer and an excerpt for you to devour too. There now, don’t say we don’t ever give you anything. ENJOY!

Can you explain the plot of ‘Carve the Mark’ in only emojis?

Here is my best shot at it:

What awesome things do we have to look forward to in the book?

Spaceships! Sword fights! Poisonous flowers! Lots of different planets! Colorful space phenomena! Special powers! Complicated sibling dynamics! The gradual unraveling of hateful assumptions thanks to greater understanding between people of different cultures!

QUIZ: Which Disney show should you watch based on your book boyfriend opinions?

Which character from ‘A Series of Unfortunate Events’ are you?

We know it’s going to be seriously great, but are you scared that ‘Carve the Mark’ won’t live up to fans’ expectations after the huge success of ‘Divergent’?

I mean, sure, a part of me is, and always would be, no matter what I wrote next. But I love this story, I worked hard to make it as good as it could be, and that’s really all I can do. I hope everyone else loves it too, but that’s out of my hands now.

What’s been your fave fan reaction from an early ‘Carve the Mark’ reader so far?

So few people have read it thus far that it’s hard to have a favorite—all the positive feedback has been wonderful and encouraging. But a reviewer did ‘Carve the Mark’ themed makeup, and that was particularly awesome. She rocked some blue lipstick.

Any hints as to what you’re working on next?

‘Carve the Mark’ 2! I don’t even have a title yet. But it is what I’m working on next, no hinting necessary.

Quick! What’s one thing you could say to make someone reading this go out and buy a copy right this second?

THERE’S CANDY INSIDE. Okay, that’s a lie, but I hope the book creates, for you, a world you want to spend time in, as all my favorite books have.
