It’s Wednesday which means it’s time to announce our latest MP! Superfan of the Week! This week we’ve chosen one of the biggest Fifth Harmony fan accounts , @5HOnTour, who we have major heart eyes for. Their current charity Christmas project made our cold hearts grow three sizes bigger..
We had a good old chat with the account owners about why they’re so goddamn amazing…
Who owns the account?
We are a group of social media enthusiasts in our 20s from six different countries who all love Fifth Harmony.
Why are you a fan of Fifth Harmony?
First and foremost, we believe in their talent and their potential. They have already broken some records as a girl group and we hope to see them continue to break some more. It’s rare to find a group of singers who are so talented and so diverse in what they bring to the table yet they can come together to do something so great. They are also some of the nicest people to their fans and are so engaged with real issues and how they can make a difference. They really go out of their way to show love for others and that’s something we believe our generation needs.
How long have you been a fan of Fifth Harmony?
Most of us have been supporting them since they were on ‘The X Factor’ in 2012. A few others joined shorty after, in their early days, so I guess we could say we’ve been here from the beginning.
What’s your favourite 5H song and why?
It’s difficult for our whole team to agree on a song, but we all can agree that ‘Work from Home’ must be one of them. We can’t help but recognize that it’s one of the most streamed songs of the year, certified 3 times platinum and has over a billion views on its VMA winning music video.
Have 5H ever noticed the account or engaged? If so how did you react?
All of the members of 5H have recognized/engaged with us in one way or another and it’s really satisfying to know they recognize our hard work and dedication to them.
Have you ever met 5H?
Most of us have, either at local signings, through radio events or at their tour’s Meet & Greet. Sadly, a few members of our team haven’t gotten the opportunity yet.
Why do you think people are so engaged with your fan account?
We have been with Fifth Harmony (and the Harmonizers) since the end of their ‘X Factor’ run, as well as throughout all the ups and downs of Fifth Harmony’s career, and in that time we have created a sense of community amongst the fans beyond just posting media. Our support for the group has been unwavering and we’ve been consistent in being a reliable source for all things Fifth Harmony.
What differentiates you from other 5H accounts?
We pride ourselves in being as professional as possible, prioritizing respect for the members of the group and that shows in our work. We do everything with great detail, we think outside the box and we make the absolute most of the minimal (or non existent) resources we have to provide people with the most thorough, high quality experience as a Fifth Harmony supporter.
What do you think of 5H’s relationship with each other as a band?
We think it’s quite remarkable how these five different young women who come from different walks of life, have different styles and taste, etc, have been able to come together to create something so iconic. They have grown together, and as they have said, they’ve learned from each other and lifted each other up when things get rough. They have achieved so much success and popularity but with that come the media who have often taken advantage of these five girls’ friendship for their own benefit (for more clicks and views). Obviously, working such long hours during large spans of time, always surrounded by the same people would drive anyone mad, but we think media outlets have exaggerated this to a point where it looks they hate each other, when that’s far from the truth.
Could you tell us a bit about your ‘Make A Wish’ Christmas campaign?
Last year we launched a holiday campaign called #5HPayItForward. That was all about recognizing and acting on the little things we can all do to make a difference. In addition, we raised $3,000 for ‘Pencils of Promise’, a non-profit organization that builds schools and increases educational opportunities in the developing world.
This year we wanted to continue giving back but we also wanted the fans to get a little something along with it so we launched #5HChristmasWishlist. One of our account runners, Christine, designed Christmas themed ‘Work From Home’ hoodies, crewnecks, and tees which are on sale now until November 23rd and can be purchased at bit.ly/5Hchristmaswishlist. 100% of the profits benefit ‘Make-A-Wish’ Foundation, a non-profit that grants the wishes of children with life threatening medical conditions.
We chose ‘Make-A-Wish’ because we love their efforts to improve the quality of life these children have. We can’t fathom what these kids and their families have to experience when they are faced with the challenges of dealing with a life threatening condition. ‘Make-A-Wish’ fulfils these children’s wishes and gives them happiness and hope if even only for a moment.
